This Issue's Song: After
All These Years
This is one of the more contradictory
songs I've written. It's smooth and flowing, andante, yet it's sung
in rhythmic pulses and attains an emotional intensity andante never
sees. But at the same time, it has a nature very similar to a
lullaby, delicate and fragile. And the chord progression is anything
but standard, at times a soft and spritely picking, at times a
powerful strum, only to drop quickly back to the softness. You can't
sing this song properly if you don't feel the praise found in the
lyrics. This song is a tap of profound inner appreciation for
another. If you've never felt this kind of love, you can't do this
song justice.
