This Issue's Song: Help Me Make a Stand
The most difficult challenge that
any relationship faces is how the sacrifices that are made to make
the relationship work are handled. The need for support in keeping
the desires to pursue these abandoned goals is a must, and this song
deals with this. The song is pretty much straight (modern) county
western, with a steady driving rhythm, and sung with an urgency. The
primary atypical feature is the loose rhyming scheme in the verses,
with only every other verse having one rhyme. Making up for it is the
limerick scheme of the chorus. Another deviation from standard
country and rock is that I use the proper adverb "tightly".
