After the rave reviews that the ride got last year when management gave us a break, I guess they took the hint for this one too. This is the 5th flattest and 5th easiest ride in the history of Ragbrai. I'm good with that! But I'm going to go ahead and train rigorously, because it made a real difference with me last year when I trained so hard after being a guest of the Shenandoah EMS for an evening the previous year.
But not so fast, Kimo Sabe.. It could be the flattest of all Ragbrai's ever and we can still have an incredibly hard ride if we do not get cooperation from the winds and the temperatures. I would much rather have a windless ride with lots of hills, than a flat ride with unrelenting headwinds. Those headwinds tax the most susceptible muscle in my body, the one between my ears. I wonder how much weight a spinnaker weighs if I pack it on the bike?
Rich Ketcham is just doing a more marvelous job each year with his profiles on Geobike. Make sure you check those out, and thanks to Rich for letting us use them!
We certainly did have some problems uploading last year's reports. I believe we have that all worked out and we also will be uploading the pics, videos and commentary via cell phone, so check back each evening of the ride for the real scoop of Ragbrai, 2005!
Dave and the crew...
Just
click the roadway on the appropriate day and you will see photos and text as
they occur!!! Sometimes, we need some time to get our tents up, and our reports
written. Occasionally, we're a day late.
