The Hawgs are back and it's almost time for the 2006 ride. The reports are going up to a new level this year- We're going video! We'll save our videos to the Windows Media Player format and you'll see and hear videos from each day. We'll save the videos to a small size either in addition to or instead of so that you dialup users won't be left out, but you're used to waiting anyway, aren't you!
After being out last year with back problems last year, my spine specialist prescribed a recumbent, so I bought a Burley Koosah and trained on it for 3 weeks, loving the new world of recumbency. But alas, at my last appointment, he told me that I was in the doorway of the surgeon as it is, so yours truly will be riding Ragbrai via Solara convertible. Maybe this way I can keep up with my fellow Texan, Lance. But keeping things positive, this will make it possible for me to visit you all at some of the stops, and maybe even visit the penultimate towns when things are really hopping!
As always, Rich Ketchum has come through again with all the profiles and stats needed. Without his annual research, riding the ride would be comparable to Columbus sailing the ocean blue without knowing what was on the other side! According to these stats, we are going from the 5th easiest ride last year to the sixth hardest ride this year. But I look at days, and who can forget "flying to Greenfield" in Ragbrai 28. That was the most climb in a day ever! (at least of Ragbrai). No day in this year's ride falls in the top ten. May the force be with all of us!

Just
click the roadway on the appropriate day and you will see photos and text as
they occur!!! Sometimes, we need some time to get our tents up, and our reports
written. Occasionally, we're a day late.
