Dave- The Century Day! This was the 100 mile day so we packed early and left at around 6:00 AM. I couldn't resist joining the Ackley Community Dixieland band for a number by asking the Trombone player if he would like a break. It was fun, although I think the quality of the band went down a bit. Because of the heat, I pressed on while it was still in the cool hours of the morning so that I would not get overheated. The hills got larger in the afternoon and I became a bit nervous when the rider next to me said- "but we haven't even reached the Alps Yet!"
Today's trip was long but uneventful. I drank enough GatorAide to last years. Grundy Center was a neat town that is surrounded by some of the richest soil on the planet. Incredibly black in color. Great people once again today. I can't say wnough about all the local folks who support RAGBRAII. One free water stop was under a giant midwest water tower. The friendly crew of the water company fed us Fig Newtons and geat tasting water. Camping every night is a trip in itself. The shower lines are pretty long. Check out the shower water supply. Do you see a water heater anywhere? Wakes one up. The KYBOS are a friend to all. You can guess what they are from the picture. Never heard the name KYBO before. Some groups haul their luggage from camp to camp in a rent truck. Finding your toothbrush can be a challenge. Check out one of the club buses. Lots of imagination goes into painting them. Here is a picture of most of the crew that is in our group- The Superior HAWGS. One of our group found the time to get a tattoo during the ride. Lots of heat generated under that helment. Right now we are in the kitchen of Diana Fetter; another friendly Iowan who let us into her home to do our electronic voodoo. By George Pitlk in Toledo, Iowa.
